About Salsa Timoteo

Our original recipes were developed by founder and novice chef Tim in his home kitchen after finding that traditional jar salsa was not up to par for his family’s traditional Tex-Mex cooking. Throughout school, Tim worked in the restaurant business specializing in Mexican Food, earning the nickname Timoteo. Tim’s career headed into the medical field but his passion for salsa never faded.
In 1996, after refining his recipe at home to satisfy his own cravings, Tim began to enter his salsa in local and regional contests. Winning 33 awards to date, demand grew and Tim started producing his salsa for friends and neighbors. As word of Salsa Timoteo grew, he worked with experts to create a shelf stable version of the salsa that would allow people all over the country to enjoy his special blends.
With the growth in the business, Tim needed help. In 2010, PJ Foods took over operations and provided capital to expand Timoteo on the national stage all while remaining true to the original recipes and spirit of Timoteo.
